Need a last minute gift? Can’t go wrong with Brett Eldredge’s Glow
Today I’m sitting at DFW waiting to board a flight to McAllen, TX, where my dad will greet me and shuttle me off to his Winter Texan residency, an RV park in San Benito. I am making a fast trip south to celebrate Dad’s birthday on the 23rd, and take part in some of the pre-holiday fun with his pals in the retirement park. I’ll play pickle ball, chat with his neighbors at 4 PM cocktail hour and I’m sure Dad will pop for some good Mexican food.
I’ll be back in Iowa in time for Christmas Eve services at our church with my family.
To be ready for my early morning flight I stayed up way too late organizing Christmas stuff at home, packing my suitcase and baking some treats to bring along. I made Tollhouse cookies sprinkled with red and green chocolate chips, chocolate crinkles (Krusteaz has a good box mix) and butter crunch. Dad and my uncle Chuck should be happy.
As I worked, I listened to my new favorite holiday album – Brett Eldredge’s Glow. The album is lovely. Brett has a great, mellow voice and there’s nothing hokey or tricky about the music or songs. There are classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Let It Snow, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Baby It’s Cold Outside with Meghan Trainor and his own Glow. It is classy and nostalgic and sort of reminds me of the 1970s holiday TV specials I loved when I was a kid. After my cousin Kris listened to Glow she mentioned Brett sounded like a country Dean Martin. Maybe but it is more jazzy and big band than country. Yes, maybe a little like the Dean Martin Christmas Album my folks had.
I liked this album so much I bought a couple copies as gifts for family and friends via iTunes. I’ve heard from a few of them they are enjoy it. So, if you need a quick-last minute gift, I recommend you hop on iTunes and “Gift a Friend” Glow. Find Glow via iTunes here
Gotta go. They are about to be calling for McAllen.
