Where have I been? Today I was checking the line up for GAS Fest

Blogging slipped to the backseat in the past few weeks. Christmas gatherings and family time, startup with a new PR client and regrouping after the new year were priorities.

But I’m back.

Today I was inspired to post while sorting through old DVDs/CDs that had collected in my office. One by one I set about shoving the disks into my iMac to see if they contained any important photos, old work files or were just blanks that got jumbled in the mess. I’m not such a great organize-as-you-go kind of gal. So every once in awhile I have to do a big purge. Like every 10 years.

While loading the disks, I spotted an incoming email from Moeller Nights, AKA Sean Moeller. I had to check that one out because Sean’s been dropping hints he’d soon share the lineup for his inaugural Gas, Feed and Seed Festival. This 3 day “music, comedy and food experience” is coming to Davenport Feb 16-18.

Since leaving Daytrotter (the famous music website he founded) last year, Sean’s been busy brewing cool stuff, including weekly concerts at the Village Theatre in the Village of East Davenport, partnering with some other local guys for a new Whiskey bar/music venue in downtown Davenport and promoting the GAS Fest.

Scouring the GAS Fest line-up turned into a great diversion to my purging pursuit. Systematically, I went down through the acts. I learned genres, hometowns and I sampled videos for each band. That was all while reviewing old CDs, checking in with my daughter, posting a few items on social media, answering emails and making a batch of chili for supper. Probably the reason I’m not an organize-as-you-go person is because I’m an excellent multi tasker. The best. (nah, probably not.)

Back to the GAS Fest line-up. I’ve only made it a third of the way through the list but so far, I’m hooked. Check it out and marvel. Yep, this is what we do right here in Davenport, IA, USA.  Can’t wait. Here’s the email from today.

During my research I found this cool video by REMSY. I couldn’t find much about her but concluded she is a hip sort-of country act from Lockhart, TX, the reported BBQ Capital of the World. I like the Johnny Cash beat of this song Lucky Two.
